AI: A New Species
PC / Mac Computer Game

Why must AI always be made to look like humans? Logically speaking, anthropomorphizing AI can actually bring many problems. If we regard AI as a form of life, a new species, their appearance and characteristics would not be constrained by human traits, but instead have their own unique qualities.

Could AI develop their own distinct appearance and behavior? And how would they evolve?

Many people have questioned why AI must look like humans. Ethically speaking, making AI anthropomorphic actually raises many questions. This also triggered me to think that if AI is considered as a kind of life, a new species, their appearance and characteristics will not be restricted to human traits, but will have their own traits. Will AI have their own appearance and behaviours? How will they evolve?

So I designed an interactive game starting from how to observe the communication between AIs from their point of view. I collected the sounds of AIs with different appearances and used Wav2CLIP to transform the sounds into AI images, and finally extracted the characteristics from the AI images to design the game characters. The collected AI voices are used as dialogues between the characters. The interaction mode of the game adopts the “touch-sound” mode. When the protagonist touches other characters, the other characters will make corresponding sounds, thus reflecting the communication process.
